What’s that noise in the walls? (not for the weak)
It wasn’t long after we had finished the basement that we started hearing sounds in the walls and ceiling… and sometimes a foul smell. Those who know that dead mouse smell… well, you know. We never did see mice droppings for the years prior to the basement being renovated. The last thing I wanted to do was open up the walls…

Sliding Screen Door for the Garage
The attached garage is a place we use to store firewood during the winter. Usually we can keep about a cord at a time. For some time now I’ve wanted to have a screen door at the entrance to allow a cross breeze with the windows on the opposite side of the garage. It would help keep the humidity down, which is something I’ve noticed a lot this year.
So I present to you the nothing fancy sliding screen door.

Sunroom update – when panes become a pain
When I installed the safety glass on my sunroom addition, I used some commercial grade black butyl tape to stick the glass to the boards. However, now the glass is slowly sliding out. The roof has a 15 degree pitch. Now to figure out a solution.

Deck rebuilt
Rebuilt and stripped clean, new post and new panels. Ready to stain!

Planter boxes – out with the old
The spoils of war. The war on water infiltration and wood rot. Its surprising the amount of wood that can pile up from even a partial deck deconstruction.
-
Planter box moisture damage.
That deck beam is a triple pressure treated 2×10, so for sure that outside board is going to have to come off. The water damage was much more extensive that first thought.
