Building A Chicken Birdhouse
My sister has a birthday coming up. While in our printer room folding plans for our online woodworking plans store Woodworkersworkshop.com, I was folding a plan for a chicken birdhouse and had a lightbulb moment. We should build her a chicken birdhouse. LOL. Only makes sense if you know that they have chickens. Lots of chickens.

DIY Fairy Door
Every spring we write out a to-do list for the year, most of which we get done and if not it gets carried over for the next year. Anything from build a new deck to paint the baseboards gets put on the list. Quite a few of them for this year are outdoor things which require more consistent warm weather. There is something very satisfying about crossing a finished job off the list.

Roadside House Numbers Sign
We were contacted by a customer wanting a sign with her house numbers. Not just a square sign but a round wood slice with the bark still intact. This is what we started with.

Building Solar Panelled Driveway Lights
You heard me right. We are building our own solar driveway lights to replace the previous store bought electric ones which lasted for 13 years.

Turtle Lane Sign
Remember Teresa? Sure you do, she is the pottery kiln lady. A couple of weekends ago we delivered the wood for her outdoor kiln. Well, she dropped by this week and had an idea for a sign for the end of her driveway. The story goes that one day she was on her way to work, and lo and behold a turtle was digging at the end of her driveway to lay eggs. Imagine, possible baby turtles. She asked if we could make a sign. First we had to draw something out on the computer.

Making an Eagle Whirligig
We see a LOT of eagles in our neck of the woods. There is a fish hatchery just down the road. That could have something to do with it. They patrol the edge of the lake looking for fish. Every once in a while we actually see them dive into the lake for fish. They often park themselves on the highest tree on the edge of the water. So beautiful. We decided to build a whirligig, and what better than an eagle for our first kick at the can.

Wind Spinner 2.0
With the success of our first wind spinner, we wanted to make another one… but different. We were wondering if cutting out a different shape would make a big difference in appearance or even wind spinnability. Thats a word. But if you spell it a little differently you get a different meaning. Don’t do it. Here is the first one we made, a little blurry cause, well, it was spinning.

Making a Wind Spinner
Another rainy weekend had us in the workshop working on a project. We decided to build a wind spinner for the yard. God knows, it’s usually windy enough here for it to spin. I had the hardware written on our shopping list but turns out Jim had just what we needed already in the workshop. Of course he did.

Making Wooden Rabbits
We recently had a request for some wooden rabbits. Any project that starts out with the chainsaw is a project worth doing in Jims book. We didn’t have to go very far to find the right size tree for rabbit making.

Busy Weekend
I feel like we accomplished a lot this weekend. First up was finishing the painting of Santa, and Christmas Nativity and Stable for a customer.
