Chipping Slabs and Mulching the Flower Beds
Every spring the flower beds need to be spruced up. When we first moved here we had a dump truck of mulch delivered and that lasted for a couple of years. But with all the extra slabs we have around since we got the sawmill we decided to make our own mulch the past few years.

Building a Twisty Table
Ever see something and say, “I can build that”. Yeah, we do the same thing. Which reminds me, I’m quitting Pinterest. I recently saw a small twisty table which was awesome and thought it would be a fun EASY project. Not fun, and definitely not easy. Challenging comes to mind. But really, how hard could it be? This is the picture from Pinterest.

Weekend Projects end of April
I swear our next woodworking project might have to be to build an Arc. Seriously. What is it with weekends and rain. And this time of year it is most days in between as well. The good news is the lawn is greening up nicely, the bad news is we are getting closer to mowing season. Oh well, there are plenty of projects to keep us busy indoors.

Wood Chipping at Two Locations
I think we have turned the corner into spring, finally. The temperatures are rising and it’s the perfect time to work outdoors. We spent another afternoon chipping alders at the first location, across the lake. This time the wind worked in our favour and all the chips fell where they were intended to fall. Not on the neighbours driveway like last week. So we still had to do a final cleanup.

Chipping Alders… A lot of Alders
Last weekend we had wood chipper issues but since then we bought a new belt (plus a spare) and were up and running again. This particular afternoon was cloudy with a chance of rain so we thought we had better take advantage of it. The landowner has a beautiful location for a cottage, right on the lake. This picture was taken last Saturday when we first arrived at the site.

Wood Chipping and Dog Sitting
That about sums it up for our weekend. We got a call to do a chipping job on the weekend so first things first, we had to get the chipper out of winter storage.

Weekend update
Happy Thanksgiving. We had a busy weekend.
On Friday afternoon, we met up with Dave Restoule, the arborist we worked with a few times before to take down the remaining trees at my Moms place. In May (hard to believe it was that long ago) we worked with Dave to take down, I think it was 4 maple trees that were 70 feet tall. Got a nice bit of firewood from those. Some were rotten at the base though.

Neighbours helping neighbours.
A neighbour we had never met before contacted Jim to see if we were able to bring the chipper over to his property. He had heard us using it at our house.

Cleaning the yard
Before we move on to the other side of the shipping container we decided to do a much needed cleanup of our work area. In the background of this pic you can see the 2 large piles of logs that need to be dealt with.

Weekend update
Finally a perfect storm of good cooler weather and Jim feeling better got us back out to work on the shipping container board and batten.
