Making a GPS Sign
We needed one more ‘thing’ to fill out our wall of ‘things’. First we decided on the size and shape. We figured something about 8 x 20 would be best, so a long rectangle. With that information we decided to make a sign with our GPS co-ordinates on it. Here is where we plan for it to go.

Making an R for Baby Ruby
Our nephew and his wife had their first baby in July. They named her Ruby and she is so tiny and beautiful. I had asked my brother if we were to make something for her nursery, what color should we paint it. He sent along a picture of the nursery and we were all set to get to work. First we had to determine the size for the letter R and then pick a script for her name.

Drop Cloth Drapes
Turns out I am the queen of sewing a straight line. Who knew! With my recent success at painting and sewing new pillows and a table runner, I figured I would try my hand at sewing drapes. I know…I must be out of my mind. Regardless, I headed back to Canadian Tire to buy some more painters drop cloths. Go figure…I needed two and they only had one left. I bought it anyways on the promise that they were ordering more and they would be in stock soon. Before I show you my brilliance, here is a look at the before.

Changing up the Entryway
With the heat continuing outdoors (humidity sucks) work continues indoors. When we painted the living room two weeks ago, we brought the same paint into the entryway since they are open to each other. We just painted the upper portion of the walls knowing we would get around to finishing it off sooner or later. No time like the present.

Painting Grain Sack Stripes on Fabric
I may have bragged a time or two about the area we live in. Postcard perfect really. There is just one problem. Our nearest three towns are seriously lacking in the shopping department. I blame the internet. It’s both a curse and a blessing. I think as a result of a lot of people doing their shopping online, there has been a decline in retail stores. Some things you really need to see in person before you buy. Case in point…fabric.

Adding Color to the Walls Finally!
With everything primed it was time for paint. Before we started on the walls the ceiling needed a coat of ceiling paint. Funny but it was easier to get the primer on than the paint. I’m guessing the actual paint was thicker. Either way we had to be mindful of streaks. We were hoping with the primer we could get away with just one coat of paint. Turns out if you are very careful it is possible.

Painting the ceiling…17 feet up!
This is a job we have been putting off for too long. Anyone who owns a wood stove will understand the need to paint the ceiling. We have had the stove for 9 years I think, so it was time. It probably would have been done last year or the year before but we kept putting it off. With the paint bought there was no turning back. First we had to clear the room.

Making an Eagle Whirligig
We see a LOT of eagles in our neck of the woods. There is a fish hatchery just down the road. That could have something to do with it. They patrol the edge of the lake looking for fish. Every once in a while we actually see them dive into the lake for fish. They often park themselves on the highest tree on the edge of the water. So beautiful. We decided to build a whirligig, and what better than an eagle for our first kick at the can.
