Todays post is brought to you by the number 2 and the letter L. Ha. Anyone remember what tv show that was from? First person gets a prize. On to todays project: carving a dough bowl. Our temperatures were decent enough to do a little work outdoors so we headed out to carve a dough bowl.

Purpose of Moisture Meter Readings
The moisture content of materials plays a roll in woodworking, especially when your woodworking projects will be used indoors. Generally speaking, most woodworkers prefer their wood material to have a moisture content of about 8%. For furniture making, I can see the importance of that. For crafts however, I feel you can go with a higher moisture content.

Lamp Base from Plywood
Last year we made a round stacked plywood lamp base and it turned out awesome. I’ve been thinking about it lately and decided we really needed two of them.

Sugar Maple Cookies
I milled some of the smaller sugar maple limbs for live edge slabs. The limbs had a curve to them, so I cut them live edge to get the most I could from the limbs. The limbs were about 9-10 inches wide. (This post original aired Jul 07 2017 but has been updated (see bottom) as of Feb 15 2018.)

Wagon Wheel Picnic Table
Before we sell new plans in our store Jim likes to build a prototype just to ensure all parts are the correct size and also to create a booklet to go with the plan to help describe the steps in building the project.

Poplar logs are done… finally.
Annnndddd the poplar logs are done! About 93 logs and we got enough to board and batten the 40ft shipping container as well as these 5 crates of 1″ boards and one tall crate of bigger boards ( mostly 2×10’s, 2×12’s).

More folding bench/picnic tables
On Monday morning we got a call from the store that sells our folding bench/picnic tables to tell us they sold the last one and could we bring another.

Shipping Container: 2nd Side
On the weekend we started on the second side of the shipping container board and batten project.
