Sunroom on the deck screens and final pictures
A few final pictures. I didn’t get a chance to take many pictures of building the screens. But here’s a few points to remember.

Sunroom on the deck part 7
All stained, still waiting for the glass. The following few pics show the screen door built on the south side, and adjusting the door so that it can swing open. A sloped door presents its own set of challenges.

Sunroom on the deck part 6
Here are some close up pictures of the top part of the structure to accomodate the glass.

Sunroom on the deck part 5
Spent part of the morning putting up the rafters and installing some of the uprights. Nursing a sore left elbow, not sure how that happened. Slowed up by that and the drill’s battery needing recharge every hour (only have one). Its all coming together pretty good. Did some quick measures for the glass roof. Gonna need 6 sheets of approximately 22 x 111 inches.

Sunroom on the deck part 4
Finished putting the foam wedges on the other upright and cut the 2×8 upper header with a 3/8 inch deep by 1/2 inch wide rabbet to accomodate the upper edge of the safety glass ceiling panels.

Sunroom on the deck part 3
One of the purposes of the sunroom is to be able to enjoy the outdoors without being bothered by the bugs. Since the sunroom will be up against the siding there will be lots of gaps. I’m not keen on the idea of lots of and lots of silicone and caulking so this is my solution.

Sunroom on the deck part 2
I’m not surprised, the hardware did not call like they said they would. So after supper I worked for a bit and got the front wall of the sunroom in place. A few tweaks and adjusts along the way.

Sunroom on the deck
Starting today on the sunroom. Picked up lumber at Central yesterday and put in order to price aluminum flat bar. 2 inch x 10 ft. They had stock there but it was only 1-1/2″ wide x 6 ft long. Put the floor boards down and the spacers in place for the railing.
