Water Woes
We had a beautiful warm-ish weekend considering it is getting late into November. Can’t complain yet! If you remember we were swimming in mud. We still are, but we are working on it.

Sinking feeling
Remember a week or so ago when we were so proud of our newly cleared lot behind the work yard????? I think I may have even bragged a little. As a refresher, here is how it looked.

Expansion continues
The weather is holding at decent temperatures for working outdoors. When I said we hoped to have the ground leveled out before winter I thought it was a pipe dream. Here is where we left off…

Another day at the sawmill
On Tuesday, with our house guest gone, we were able to get out to the mill again. While the puppy was here, he wanted no part of our work area. Jim was working with the skidsteerĀ to tidy up the yard and the puppy wasn’t impressed with the noise. I wouldn’t leave him in the house alone, he would only cry and paw at the glass door, so Jim was flying solo.

Weekend update
Happy Thanksgiving. We had a busy weekend.
On Friday afternoon, we met up with Dave Restoule, the arborist we worked with a few times before to take down the remaining trees at my Moms place. In May (hard to believe it was that long ago) we worked with Dave to take down, I think it was 4 maple trees that were 70 feet tall. Got a nice bit of firewood from those. Some were rotten at the base though.

Back to the mill
Saturday was a wash out but Sunday was the most beautiful day ever. We woke up our first frost of the season on the windshield of the truck but that quickly disappeared and we were left with clear blue skies and 16 degrees, perfect fall weather for working outdoors.
Whats left of the load of poplar logs we had delivered in May have to be sawn before winter so we decided we better get at it.

Neighbours helping neighbours.
A neighbour we had never met before contacted Jim to see if we were able to bring the chipper over to his property. He had heard us using it at our house.

Clean up day at the house
The north side of the house does not see much sun, and the moss and mildew grows unabated. Every couple years I get up to clean it off. I am using a Jeep brand mildew remover, I’m on the last little bit. I ran out near the end and sprayed on some Spray-Nine cleaner. Honestly, it could of been the same product, same smell, same results.

Clearing land behind workshop
Well I finally gave up on trying to break up the embankment with the skidsteer while waiting for local contractors to show up (over a year waiting). The soil got too compact for me to break into, so I called a company from a nearby town. Blaine MacLane Excavation did a site visit on Saturday and Tuesday morning they showed up. Robert was the operator and he did a excellent job. I easily recommend them again for any work. For them, no job is too small or too big.
I set up my camera for time lapse photography and

Clearing snow at Kathryn’s
Plenty of snow fell in the region on Feb 08. After clearing our own driveway we drove over to Kathryn’s to clear out her lot as well.
