Here is a wood map of Cape Breton I cut as a request from a new customer who wanted the ‘positive’ image. When I cut wood projects like this I refer to them as the ‘positive’ and the ‘negative’.

Ever get an idea in your head that will not leave? 🙂 This is what was in my head for the past month and the only way to get it out was to create it.

Wood map of Nova Scotia No 14
Another one, all done. Making use of the left overs from a previous wooden map project I mounted this outline to 1/8″ veneer plywood and re-cut the outline.

Wood map Newfoundland No 2
In the workshop today I am working on a 48 inch wooden map of Newfoundland as well as one of Nova Scotia. Both will be available for sale soon. I managed to save the parts from the large wooden map of Atlantic Canada from an earlier project.

Wood Map Nova Scotia No 13 framed
I am pleased with this wooden map of Nova Scotia that I made this August 2016. I was going to make two different maps from the two parts of the cutting, a negative and positive so to speak. Then I thought that making a 3D coastal map and frame it would be nice idea. Here is a close up of the map.

Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse project
We recently completed the building plans for a 10ft tall Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse. Now its time to get busy in the workshop to make a production model.

Building a heat pump shelter
Time to start on building this heat pump shelter before the snow starts to fall. Last year was terrible weather for the big fan on the heat pump. The constant snow fall and thawing temperatures meant plenty of ice build up on the heat pump fan. I’ve never done log work like this before so its all new to me. Time to start on the corner posts.

Homemade wood stain
I read so much about vinegar and steel wool, and finally caved in and decided to see what all the hubub was about. I used a mason jar with one wad of steel wool and filled it with white vinegar (5% acetic acid).
