Make your own Beam Compass
A beam compass is one of the easier tools to make up in the workshop. A scrap piece of wood, a screw and pencil are the basics. You can also use a clamp or rubber band to add some tension to keep the pencil in place.

Nova Scotia Wood Map No.17 My ‘winter white’ Nova Scotia wood map No. 17 measures about 20 inches long. The boards are rough sawn using a chainsaw, then the coastline is cut out with another saw.
