    Site assessment.

Our neighbor, Miss Taylor, was looking for some help to remove a couple of sheds that were built by the previous owner. The builder set their sheds to span the brook that runs next to the house. Now its 50 years later and time for removal.

This project took a couple of days to do. Russell MacHattie and I were raised up in the cage. The boom truck was supplied by James MacEachern of Antigonish. Contact Mr. MacEachern at 863-9627 or 863-4931 if you need the services of a boom truck. Extra help provided by Ron MacCara. Materials for the repairs purchased at Central Home Improvement Warehouse in Antigonish.

    Reshingle a roof

    Reshingling a roof.
    It takes a community.

The neighbor recognized he’d need some help with a job this big and a bunch of us were willing to help out. He was re-shingling the home he grew up in. I swung by and gave him a helping hand too.

    Pool needs a fence.

A friend asked for some help in building a custom fence around their pool. They found a fence design on the Internet that they wanted duplicated. The first three pictures here are where I came in to the project. The 6×6 posts were already installed. The posts average 8 ft apart, two sections between the house and the garage are 10ft apart. A couple section to the rear are 5 ft. And yes…that is one BIG German Shepherd dog!

Never installed a metal roof before.

The metal roofing on the second side was installed in the morning and I added the ridge cap after lunch. This product offered by Vicwest is easy to work with.

    Garage door goes in

This morning we spent in town getting some lumber and hardware supplies so we didn’t get back until about lunch time. Our neighbor Hugh showed up again and helped install the single door and the garage door as well as two layers of felt paper on the roof. Then I fell off the roof…
