First baby fawn of 2016
We were graced with the presence of this little cutie today.

Deer visit
A couple deer are considered friendly neighbours. They certainly are not friendly enough to approach, but if we are still and quiet, they pass along without much bother.

First deer sighting of 2016
This might be the momma deer and baby from last year. Although last year in the fall momma had two fawns. So I am guessing only one made it through the winter.
The fawn in hidden behind momma, but this video shows them walking away.
We are testing a new trail camera, Moultrie® GM-80xt but it has its issues. It should of easily record several images and at least two ten second videos given the amount of time the deer were in the camera’s view. One thing we learned is that rechargeable batteries are useless in this camera, full charge Duracell batteries lasted only 1 day at 0ºC weather and the camera did not work below 0ºC. The company recommended Energizer regular batteries and it produced this image and video in -10ºC.

Sweet treats for the deer
Momma and her two babies swung by today to snack on some apples that had fallen on the ground. Every time they come, I try to get out and sit on the grounds somewhere just within sight, and as close as I dare.

Monday morning is always brighter with a deer visit
Monday… cloudy, overcast, warm for the fall season and muggy… t’is a close day, as they say. Momma and her litter of two came by for a visit today, so work comes to a stop as we enjoy the company.

This morning’s visitor
She passes by some mornings. Almost certain this is the doe that lost her fawn back on Jul 9th after being hit by a vehicle on the road near our home.

Labor Day – Oh Deer!
Labor day 2014 is warm and humid. We were pleasantly visited by a momma deer and her two offspring. 🙂

Visitors this morning
Always a good morning when deer come by for a visit. Especially when they are munching on the greenery that otherwise would of fallen to the whipper snipper. I’ll have to remember to not cut it all down so they have something to nibble on.

Oh deer…
Another hot day comes to an end. Well over 30 C all day with clear skies and we were outdoors finishing up paint trim on windows, cleared out some wild growth bamboo-like trees/grass and cut down a few overgrown evergreen bushes. I know I’m bushed!
