    Reshingle a roof

    Reshingling a roof.
    It takes a community.

The neighbor recognized he’d need some help with a job this big and a bunch of us were willing to help out. He was re-shingling the home he grew up in. I swung by and gave him a helping hand too.

The metal barn was pre-existing and the plastic dome sheep barn was recently added. Much of the heat was being lost between the gaps of the two buildings.

    Garage 20 x 24 ft

    Finished garage.

A friend was having this garage built so I, and another friend, gave him a helping hand. He had already arranged for the concrete pad to be poured, doing a lot of that preparation work himself. He arranged for a garage kit from Central Home Improvement to be delivered. Kits are fully equipped to build a garage although the homeowner should review materials list with builder to prevent extra trips back to cover any “extras” that the homeowner may add.

A friend up the road asked for some help with siding his garage. He lives only a short distance from me so I was glad to help out. Pictured here are the before and after. It took us a couple of days to finish.

Today I helped by adding the kick-out on the gable end. Then we finished sheeting in the front and back and added the fascia board.

    Baby barn finish building.

A client asked for some help with a baby barn. Its dimensions are 16 ft long, 12 ft wide and 10 ft high at the collar tie on the truss. The chord length of the trusses are all 54-3/4 inches with 22-1/2 miter cut. The collar tie is a 8ft with the angle cut to tie into the top two chords. Trusses are to be nailed into the top plate of the 5 ft wall. That will make the roof flush with the side but I think we will flare out the roof to match the gable overhang of 6 inches.

    VicWest metal roof installation
Never installed a metal roof before.

The metal roofing on the second side was installed in the morning and I added the ridge cap after lunch. This product offered by Vicwest is easy to work with.

    Time to move.
    Its moving day!

Well, not into the house. That has not even broken ground yet. But we can move the house contents from the moving truck to the garage. Another bright morning. Nice to see a bunny rabbit on the lawn to greet the morning sun.

    Garage door goes in

This morning we spent in town getting some lumber and hardware supplies so we didn’t get back until about lunch time. Our neighbor Hugh showed up again and helped install the single door and the garage door as well as two layers of felt paper on the roof. Then I fell off the roof…
