Modern Wooden Santa Ornaments
Here is a quick and easy project anyone can do. Follow along as I make a new ornament for our Christmas tree this year. Somebody stop me!!
I drew out a triangle on paper with the approximate measurements I wanted and headed out to the workshop to find a piece of wood.
After a bit of a hunt I found a small board and traced 6 triangles on it. I left it on the bandsaw and got busy with other things. The next day Jim handed me the 6 triangles cut out and sanded. Said he saw I had put it there and cut them out for me. Interesting…maybe that’s all I need to do from now on. Noted.
Pressing my luck, I asked him to drill holes in the top from left to right, not through the front. And figuring since he was in a good mood and going to be in the workshop anyways… I then asked for 3 circles and if he could cut them in half.
Time for paint. I used a pencil and drew a faint line all the way around (front, back and sides) and painted that part red. Still using a pencil, I faintly drew where his beard would go and painted it white on the front only.
Time for hot glue. I simply put hot glue on a 1/2 circle and placed it on the Santa holding it in place for a minute or so.
Using jute twine for hanging, I passed the twine through the hole Jim made in the “hat” and tied it off.
So quick and easy to do. We definitely have plenty of homemade Christmas ornaments to fill the tree and then some. No need to use store bought ornaments.
Later.
