Wood Map Flag Design
Last week I showed you a wood map of NS I did with a lighthouse painted on it. You can see that post here. This last weekend started out as a washout with an abundance of heavy rain. What’s a girl to do?? Paint of course.
I already had a wood map of Nova Scotia on hand from the last batch Jim had cut out on the scroll saw. Also had a backer board.
Jim measured the wood map I was planning to paint and on the computer he sized a map of NS, then printed it out.

I used tracing paper to copy the image onto the map.

Time for paint. I painted the white first. White usually takes 2 – 3 coats to fully cover.

Next up…navy. I usually start with the easiest area and work my way down to the hardest area to paint.

For the emblem in the center I filled in all areas that are red first, yellow second.

Here is a close up of painting the details.

And voila!!!

Here it is next to the lighthouse map.

These are both for sale in our online store. I think I have a new favorite map. I will definitely be doing another one just like this for myself.
