New Nova Scotia Wood Map
We have been seeing a spike in inquiries regarding our wood maps of Nova Scotia from right here at home as well as across Canada. We attribute it to the recent events in our province and the outpouring of love for Nova Scotia that has followed.
I thought now would be a good time to up our inventory. Jim had already cut out the maps of NS and we also had the backer boards on hand.
First up I laid the map on a sheet of paper and roughly traced around it so I had a starting point. Then I worked on the design until I was happy with it.
Next I traced the basics of the design onto the wood map using tracing paper.
Time for paint. I headed to my paint room and picked out the colors of paint I thought I might use, got set up and got to work.
It always looks flat until you add more details.
Once the painting was finished, I laid it onto the backer board.
The next morning I gave the backer board a whitewash so the map would stand out more. Here is the final map.
And a close up of the lighthouse…
This one is up for sale, check out our showcase. I will be sad to see it go…but that means more painting. Stay tuned…I have lots of ideas.
