On This Day in Sawyer History Feb 03rd
Emil H. Hanssler, or Webster City, county of Hamilton, state of Iowa, United States, applied for a patent on Dec 20,1901 serial number 86,654 (awarded Feb 03, 1903) claiming the invention of certain and useful improvements in portable sawmills.
The object is to provide a portable sawmill of simple, durable and inexpensive construction which may be quickly and easily set up ready for use without the necessity of digging a pit beneath the saw mill to receive saw dust, specifically by operating a discharge system of sawdust off to the side of the mill.
