Each Saturday morning I review 10 vintage logging, forestry and saw milling photos. This week’s review of vintage logging is about log yards.

1949 Portable sawmill cutting government logs, Missouri, US

1945 Berger Bros. Sawmill. Steam power from a Reves 2 cylinder compound.

Woods workers loading logs on a rubber-tired wagon for hauling to small portable sawmill. The logs are skidded to this point by team. The loaded wagon is hauled by a small tractor which is also used in loading.

Unloading cut timber at sawmill. Logs are hardwood oak, birch, gum, cypress and hard pine.
