Cakes,  Christmas

Our Kiln has arrived.

Well hello there. Long time no see. Hope you had a great Christmas. Ours was low-key. As of Christmas eve we still had no snow and the lake was mostly open.

Toooo soon

As of today…still no snow but the lake has frozen over with the cold temperatures we have had for the last couple of weeks.

On Sunday we glanced out the window to see a couple of people skating. What the $%&@!!!! I kept my eye out for them in case I had to call 911. They kept kinda close to shore but they had cleared a larger spot using shovels to push the dusting of snow. There is one in every crowd.

We did the usual baking, trying out some new recipes.

In other news… our kiln arrived on Friday just before Christmas. An eighteen-wheeler pulled up to the end of our driveway and Jim went up with the skidsteer and forks and carried it down the hill. Driver said if it was summer he would have backed down, at the time there were patches of ice.

Here it is

First thing we have to get done in the spring is to start build the shed for the kiln. We have some more goodies on the way…stay tuned.

Our first winter storm is coming tomorrow. And in typical fashion for our winter weather, we are supposed to get dumped with 20 cm of snow and wind, they call it a nor’easter, and then it changes to rain. Makes for heavy sloppy snow, fun. I’ll let you know how we make out.
