Primitive Angels 2017

In the latter part of 2016 we made some primitive angels. Now its time to make some more. With no more pallets boards handy, I gathered some blue denim pine that’s been drying in the shop from the trees we cleared in the summer 2016.

These angel bodies were still not quite dry enough so we popped them in the oven for 2 hrs at 200º F. The difference in weight afterwards was quite noticeable, and so too was the wonderful smell of pine that permeated all areas of the house.

Here we have the angels wings all ready to go in the oven next for an hour. I  went with 1 hour for each 1/2 inch thickness of wood.

With the parts cooled, its time to start applying stains and paints for a finished look. Some of the parts have a nice blue denim stain in them so these will be left natural.
