Another way to quarter saw a log. I made up this image, if it helps anyone. It does produce wastage but it will provide you with true quarter sawn lumber.

Cut out the pink slab, remove the pith. Cut out the bright yellow parts. You now have four quarters left. Cut out the lime green segments. You now have eight sticks left. Cut out the blue parts. You’ll have sixteen stick leftover. If still viable, keep cutting like that.
