LED backlit wood map of Nova Scotia
I am quite proud of this new woodworking project I created this past week. During November 2016 we hired a company to create some custom LED string lights (which will be available in our online store soon) and then I applied the lights in several new projects. This map of Nova Scotia is one of several designs coming soon to our Maritime Collection.
The concept for the project came from a necessity to make the most of some boards in the fire wood pile. Short pieces of various types of wood, I just couldn’t see myself throwing them in the fireplace. There had to be something I could make with them.
This is what I came up with, a wall mounted plaque that I think turned out great. It can also Be placed on a small rack and positioned on a desk, table or that corner of the kitchen that no one seems to know what to do with. 🙂
When the sun sets just at the right time, you can turn off the lights and let Mother Nature take over.
Along with the wooden maps mounted on backer boards (shown above) I will also be selling just the scrollsaw maps, average 8 to 10 inches wide. If you have a custom request for a particular map, or some favourite spot in you neck of the woods you would like created into a map, by all means contact me and let’s discuss your ideas.
