Balsam fir slabs aging nicely

A while back I made a small jig for slabbing small diameter lumber using the small chainsaw. About 6 weeks ago I did about 10 random lengths of 8ft to 10 ft fir in different thicknesses.

I set the boards aside to let them age. I placed some outdoors int he weather, others I kept stacked in the workshop. It was interesting to watch them age and see the affects of weather, simply to see what would happen. Here’s a short video after six weeks.

The slabs of balsam fir I cut earlier in the spring are coming along nicely.
