New store pattern – Snowman Wreath Holder
Today we are pleased to announce a new primitive pattern in our online store. In partnership with Canadian primitive patterns designer, Monika Brint, we are her exclusive printer and distributor for her large format woodworking plans.
As with all of Monika’s primitive pattern packages that we produce for her, you receive the full scale drawings plus a full color booklet of her detailed instructions. She always offers you both ways that you can build the project. You can either build it “flat” or you can build it in “layers” for a 3-D effect.
Flat: If you are looking for quick and easy, you could just cut around the outside of the pattern, then paint all of the details.
Layers: For a more traditional look, and really not that much more time involved, you can choose to cut around the outside of the pattern just like you did for the flat version, only now you can make use of some scrap pieces of wood by making some of the details of the pattern as layers. For example: the scrap and holly could be cut from separate boards. And maybe the scarf and nose, buttons or anything else.
In this project the legs are the stakes you would use to place the snowman in the garden. Use either wood stakes or metal conduit pipe is commonly used as well. Or, hang him on a wall.
As with any woodworking pattern design, you can play with the pattern and make him your own. For example, if you want to hang him on the wall, you could leave off the legs and make the bottom part of his body more round. Or, add on an additional round portion at the bottom to give him the appearance of a traditional snowman.
You really are only limited by your imagination!
