Oh deer…

Wildlife in the woods
Oh dear, its hot!

Another hot day comes to an end. Well over 30 C all day with clear skies and we were outdoors finishing up paint trim on windows, cleared out some wild growth bamboo-like trees/grass and cut down a few overgrown evergreen bushes. I know I’m bushed!

But what a great way to end the day by a visit with a local. A deer, that is. Gina says there were two but we’re guessing one stayed in the woods while this one walked the perimeter of the lawn. Its interesting to watch the reaction of the deer to the noises surrounding it. No more than 150 ft from that dear an I is a secondary highway. As the occasional car drove by the deer didn’t take heed of the noises. As I walked near the deer, I stayed on the large flat stones in the driveway, not wanting to make a noise. Yes I did, just a small tweak as one loose stone rose up against another and make a little, itsy bitsy squeak. I stopped in my tracks. The deer, which was facing away from me, stomped munching, tweaked its ears, raised its head and looked directly at me. Caught! 🙂 But I stayed perfectly still and the deer continued on its merry way.
