Refinishing an outdoor rocking chair

A woodworking friend, Bryan Cowing, made this cedar rocker for me a few years back. Its been parked on our covered porch since then. At the time I had put a couple of coats of clear wood finish. With the deck recently rebuilt, the idea came to refinish the rocker.

Its beautiful day to paint today. We have to head over and paint the exterior windows on Gina’s mom’s home so before lunch I decide to get this rocker done.

I dug out my Critter Sprayer (nowadays they call it a K-Grip Siphon Spray Gun) and poured in about 250ml of the orange latex paint, straight from the can (no thinning). Now to test and see if it will spray without having to thin with water. It wouldn’t. So, I added a tablespoon of water, gave it a good stir and PRESTO, we are in business.

I gave the underside a light pass then went back and gave it another light spray.  It dries really fast, especially with a slight breeze and full sunshine. Now time to flip it upright.
