This is another of the 4 recipes I tried out for the first time to make use of a liter of buttermilk I had in the fridge. Its always a good day when a new-to-me recipe turns out delicious. 🙂
Dense and moist, this takes only about 10 mins to prepare and about 1.5 hrs in the oven. The base lends itself to a strong crumb structure. Which makes it an ideal cake for special occasions like wedding cakes.
You could take this type of cake and embellish it with lemon rind, or orange, or even fruit berries. Heck, toss in some sprinkles or candy covered chocolates and the kids will go crazy for it.
