Here’s what our designer said about the process he undertook to design this plan:

“A little background. A deluxe Barbie house has been floating around in my mind for some time. Realizing there is a big void for houses for Barbie, and nothing like a detailed Victorian version, we thought there might be a niche in the market place. We know this is a huge undertaking for a woodworker and it is a space taker. The hours on this project have been overwhelming. The prototype process and getting to the finished product along with putting it all on paper has consumed months of work, nearly half a year! Once we started showing the prototype the response was overwhelming. I have never had a reaction like this, several even coming back with their friends or family to see it. We have decided to paint the project. Authentic Victorian colors have been selected which will take several weeks. We also are planning developing the interior with furniture and decor. This would be the gift of a lifetime for a young daughter or granddaughter. And with the unending success of Barbie and all the collectors out there, we think this house would be a great backdrop for their collection. And just as an architectural piece, it could have other display uses. ”

“We have done something different with this plan. Our printing company has access to glossy stock so we have been able to include several photos with the plan. The project is so involved that I thought this would help the woodworker visualize the project much more. One 11 x 17 sheet has three very large photos on one side and the initial text and another photo on the opposite side. Also we have worked about a dozen more small photo images throughout the plan that may help in subassembly building. We will not have instructions on the paints used because we mixed as we went along, deciding on colors that appealed to us.”
