Move the washer and dryer downstairs

Well, we’ve been in our brand new house for about 2-1/2 years now. The dear wife says its time to remodel. 😮

First step was to frame out the partition between what will be the laundry room and the basement bathroom. So where you see the dehumidifier in the photo below will be the new home for the washer and dryer.

Luckily there are two clean outs in the basement. One for the kitchen on the other side of the house and this one, which is located under the main floor bathroom. For the new laundry room sink, and washer, I’ll tap into this and also install another clean out access point using a Y adapter.

And here we have the bathroom. The pink rigid foam inset into the floor is for a tub, and there’s the toilet and drain for the vanity. What do you see wrong with this situation? Well for those that don’t see it, the 2 inch drain is located “outside” the wall and the toilet drain is 19 inches from the stud, way too far. This was the only mistake I’ve found so far that the plumber’s made when they plumbed the house.

At some point in the future this will have to be dealt with.
