Pie safe cabinet

Pie safe cabinet
One of my earlier mortise and tenon furniture proejcts.

This pie safe was built from a set of plans in a issue of Canadian HomeWorkshop. The plans called for tin punched panels but we thought a change would be good. This cabinet stores our dry goods.

Made from 3/4 inch pine and 1/8 inch thick pine plywood panels. The pine lumber was stained a dark walnut and then antiqued with sandpaper, nails, and cans. The new experiance for me in this project was making the 2 inch cove molding under the top panel. A quick search online provide many places to learn how to do it. Soon I was on my way to making my own moldings. I have not bought moldings since.

We sell other styles of pie safe cabinets in our online store.
