Map Of NS With Compass
Back again with yet another wood map of Nova Scotia, this time with a compass. We received a request from a lady in Saskatchewan for this map and she asked us to make a compass with her coordinates as well.

Alberta and Nova Scotia Maps
There are a lot of Nova Scotians working and living in Alberta. One such family contacted us to make them two maps, one for each province. This is our first time cutting out a map of Alberta.

New NS Map Design
A few months ago, we started expanding our wooden NS map offerings. You may remember these:
-
New Nova Scotia Wood Map
We have been seeing a spike in inquiries regarding our wood maps of Nova Scotia from right here at home as well as across Canada. We attribute it to the recent events in our province and the outpouring of love for Nova Scotia that has followed.

New Wood Map
Before I show you how we made this map, any guesses where it is? I’ll give you a hint. It’s on the east coast of the US.

Map making an island
As vast as the Internet’s information may be, sometimes you just cannot find that one thing you need for your next project.

Wooden Santa Ornaments
It’s that time of year again when thoughts turn to Christmas. Ha…is that cheesy or what? Just kidding anyhow, cause Christmas is my least favourite time of the year. However, I do like making things…and one can never have enough ornaments. Not the store bought kind, the homemade kind of course.

Call of Duty
These hemlock part oval shaped boards were the scrap pieces from a log I cut in early 2018 to get some oval shaped plaques. I am not one to throw anything away 🙂 I set them aside, figuring at some point an idea will come along to make use of them. I figure if the Earth can invest +100 years to grow the tree, I can at least keep the pieces around for a little while longer to see what else might be possible.

Christmas Must Be Coming…
Usually around this time of year there are a flurry of orders for wood maps. So far this year is no exception. We keep some stock on hand but of course if it is painted black the customer asks for navy. That is just the nature of the beast. We got smart and got a little ahead of things by cutting out the items but not painting or assembling them…just yet. Frames will be added later too.

Making an R for Baby Ruby
Our nephew and his wife had their first baby in July. They named her Ruby and she is so tiny and beautiful. I had asked my brother if we were to make something for her nursery, what color should we paint it. He sent along a picture of the nursery and we were all set to get to work. First we had to determine the size for the letter R and then pick a script for her name.
