Crafts
Crafts is sort of where I got my start in woodworking.

Deer head lightbox
Here is a fun project I made this past week. A live edge piece of 1 inch thick pine that features a silhouette of a deer head. 16.5 x 13 x 2.5 inches. But its more than just a silhouette cut out.

Birch Wood Wreaths
Our beautiful wood wreaths are made from locally sourced trees. A variety of birch, alder and other trees make up each wreath.
-
Deer head on tartan
We cut this deer head silhouette from one inch thick pine that harvested locally here in north eastern Nova Scotia.

Pallet Chickadee
My dear wife seen a picture of a similarly painted chickadee on the web. She liked it so much she painted one herself. The ‘canvas’ are scraps of pallet board cutoffs nailed to a longer board in behind. She did a great job for first time painting scenery and birds.

Sawdust on a stormy day
After lunch, it was still raining and heavy at times. Best thing to do is spend the day indoors making sawdust. I made some small angels to go along with the larger angels made earlier this week.

Wood Maps Nova Scotia No 18 and No 19 Cribbage Boards
A couple of people contacted me about combining the design on my wooden maps with cribbage boards. Worth a shot I figured. It was only when I realized I had to drill 361 holes did I begin to understand the amount of work involved.

Primitive Angels
With a few simple boards from the wood pile, I made a couple of these primitive craft angels today.

Nova Scotia wood maps with provincial tartan
Today we finally got to the Nova Scotia wood maps. These are special because we went the extra step of applying the provincial tartan of Nova Scotia as a background.
-
Log Santa Trio
A couple of projects on the workbench today. A trio of Santa Claus made from balsam fir logs, a couple wood maps to frame out and a folding bench picnic table.

Lighthouse Christmas Tree Topper
The Lighthouse Foundation of Wake County contacted me, asking if I could make a lighthouse for an upcoming fund raising. They liked the lighthouse Christmas tree topper I made years ago. I was happy to oblige and spent a couple hours in the workshop today making up the parts.
