Dam Roof Ice
This is why I don’t like those roof brakes, or ice dam guards, or whatever you call them. I theory they work, but here’s proof that they do not. This roof faces west/southwest.

Tricky shed demolition part 1
Our neighbor, Miss Taylor, was looking for some help to remove a couple of sheds that were built by the previous owner. The builder set their sheds to span the brook that runs next to the house. Now its 50 years later and time for removal.

Kings United Church steeple repairs
This project took a couple of days to do. Russell MacHattie and I were raised up in the cage. The boom truck was supplied by James MacEachern of Antigonish. Reshingle a roof
The neighbor recognized he’d need some help with a job this big and a bunch of us were willing to help out. He was re-shingling the home he grew up in. I swung by and gave him a helping hand too.

Pool Perimeter Custom Fence
A friend asked for some help in building a custom fence around their pool. They found a fence design on the Internet that they wanted duplicated. The first three pictures here are where I came in to the project. The 6×6 posts were already installed. The posts average 8 ft apart, two sections between the house and the garage are 10ft apart. A couple section to the rear are 5 ft. And yes…that is one BIG German Shepherd dog!

The metal roofing on the second side was installed in the morning and I added the ridge cap after lunch. This product offered by Vicwest is easy to work with.

Building a home garage and workshop part 6
This morning we spent in town getting some lumber and hardware supplies so we didn’t get back until about lunch time. Our neighbor Hugh showed up again and helped install the single door and the garage door as well as two layers of felt paper on the roof. Then I fell off the roof…
