So this just happened. It happens occasionally overhead but rarely does the eagle soar for so long. Scrambled to run into the house to get the camera. Still a blurry image but best I could do with a maxed out zoom on a moving target a couple hundred meters overhead.
This Purple Finch was at the feeder this morning, sharing with a bluejay and other finches. Shortly thereafter, this bird showed up in a clearing in front of the house, pecking at the logs on the ground. It’s a Northern Flicker!
Monday… cloudy, overcast, warm for the fall season and muggy… t’is a close day, as they say. Momma and her litter of two came by for a visit today, so work comes to a stop as we enjoy the company.
Sometimes a chore, like taking out the garbage to the road, can have its blessings. Today we retrieved a mitt full of wild raspberries! And of course, we shared with our feathered friends. They sure were curious about the red bump on the end of their perch!
We had bought a new feeder today and added it to our little collection of hummingbird feeders. I decided to try and see if I could get them to perch on my finger while they came for a feeding. It was an amazing feeling. 🙂
