Remembrance day,Veteran's day,poems
We will remember

I’ve been thinning the trees in front of our house this summer. I’ve taken quite a few photos of the area over time. This morning we were out taking photos for our Christmas cards and the light coming down through just caught our attention.

I took a couple different ones but this one ‘spoke to me’. I put that in quotes because is the only way I can describe the sensation that literally hit me. I had to write something. I’m no poet, but this is what it felt like.

In the morning’s dawn
of November eleven,
the rays of light
shine down from heaven.

Those who have fallen
lay still on the ground,
and those still standing
they gather ’round.

Courage and sacrifice
they once stood as defender,
To honor them all
we will remember.
