I totally gutted the kitchen and replaced it with the set shown below. This was a fairly straight forward job. The hardwood flooring went in later. The cabients are made from Newfoundland Birch, with a natural finish. The cabinet system was part of a kitchen manufacturer’s store display and I purchased it at a 60% discount price. Luckily all the parts fit with two base cabinets left over.

We had found ourselves in a kitchen cabinet showroom one day, thinking about renovating our home. One of the solid wood kitchens caught our attention, not only for its beauty but for its shape. It was a perfect footprint for our home. As per my usual demeanor, I asked the salesman if any of the showcased kitchens were for sale. I like asking questions like that. Its like placing a cold call, you just throw the question out there and see what happens. I think I caught him off guard. Come to learn that they were just about to remove that showcase for another newer style.

“Cash price. How much?”, I asked.

Well it turned out to be very worthwhile. I snapped up the opportunity and probably saved $10,000. 🙂 What’s not to love about that!

Now its time to get busy demolishing the old, to bring in the new.

Even the countertop from the showroom fit perfectly.. well, a few tweaks were necessary.
